Monterey Dive Sites

Wharf #2 and K Dock
1. Take US 101 SOUTH
2. Merge onto CA-156 West toward Monterey Peninsula
3. CA-156 West becomes CA-1 South
4. Exit Del Monte Ave. Toward Pacific Grove
5. Stay on Del Monte Avenue. You will go through a few lights and then the
road will open up into 3 lanes (there will be a McDonalds on your left).
6. When the McDonalds is on your left, at the signal light turn right onto
Figuroa Street. You should see a large sign for Old Fisherman's Wharf.
Figueroa & the Wharf are the same street. Turn RIGHT here, if you pass this
sign you went too far!
7. Now you are headed down to the Wharf. To get to K Dock, take a left at the entrance of the Wharf
area into the large parking lot.
8. Now you need to find a parking spot. Get all geared up, feed the parking meter
and head over to the gate where your boat will be boarding (see the website for which boat you'll be
taking for specific dock information).
Remember to bring your Certification Card - you can't go diving without it.

The Breakwater (San Carlos Beach) & Metridium Fields
1. Take US 101 SOUTH
2. Merge onto CA-156 West toward Monterey Peninsula
3. CA-156 West becomes CA-1 South
4. Exit Del Monte Ave. Toward Pacific Grove
5. Stay on Del Monte Avenue. You will go through a few lights and then the
road will open up into 3 lanes (there will be a McDonalds on your left). Make
sure that you are in the right hand lane.
6. The right hand lane will split off and go under a two lane tunnel. Once you
come out of the tunnel, you will need to make the first right.This road is Foam
Street.
7. To you right you see San Carlos Beach, The Breakwater.

The Metridium Fields
See Directions to The Breakwater.
Once you arrive Park on the South Side of the beach as that is where you will
leave to find those Giant White Plumed Anemones. See Map below.
McAbee Beach
1. Take US 101 SOUTH
2. Merge onto CA-156 West toward Monterey Peninsula
3. CA-156 West becomes CA-1 South
4. Exit Del Monte Ave. Toward Pacific Grove
5. Stay on Del Monte Avenue. You will go through a few lights and then the
road will open up into 3 lanes (there will be a McDonalds on your left). Make
sure that you are in the right hand lane.
6. The right hand lane will split off and go under a two lane tunnel. Once you
come out of the tunnel, you will need to make the first right.This road is Foam
Street. Drive a few blocks until you come to Hoffman Avenue
7. Turn right onto Hoffman Avenue. When you come to the end of Hoffman
Avenue you will be looking out over the ocean. Turn right onto Cannery Row
and dive for about 100 yards and you will come to a large parking lot on your
right. Turn into this lot. McAbee Beach is across the street and to the left (next
to El Torito's Mexican Restaurant)
Lovers Point  Beach
1. Take US 101 SOUTH
2. Merge onto CA-156 West toward Monterey Peninsula
3. CA-156 West becomes CA-1 South
4. Exit Del Monte Ave. Toward Pacific Grove
5. Stay on Del Monte Avenue. You will go through a few lights and then the
road will open up into 3 lanes (there will be a McDonalds on your left). Make sure
that you are in the right hand lane.
6. The right hand lane will split off and go under a two lane tunnel. Once you
come out of the tunnel the road will change its name to Lighthouse Avenue.
7. Stay on Lighthouse Avenue. After you go through several lights, the road
will narrow to one lane each way. The road will then fork again, (there will be a
pink house directly ahead) and you will need to turn to the right on to 1st
Avenue. This is a very short street.At the stop sign you will be facing directly at
the ocean.
8. At the stop sign turn left onto Ocean View Blvd. Drive for one quarter of a
mile until you come to a public parking lot on your right. You may park on the
street or in the parking lot.
Lovers Point 3rd Beach
Follow the directions to Lovers Point 1st Beach, but follow the park as it makes an
“s” around the ocean. Start looking for parking as Beach 3 is across from the
Tinnery Restaurant and is accessed by a narrow stone stairway down to the beach.
Coral Street Beach
1.Take US 101 SOUTH
2.Merge onto CA-156 West toward Monterey Peninsula
3.CA-156 West becomes CA-1 South
4.Exit Del Monte Ave. Toward Pacific Grove
5.Stay on Del Monte Avenue. You will go through a few lights and then the road will
open up into 3 lanes (there will be a McDonalds on your left). Make sure that you are
in the right hand lane.
6.The right hand lane will split off and go under a two lane tunnel. Once you come
out of the tunnel the road will change its name to Lighthouse Avenue.

7.Stay on Lighthouse Avenue. After you go through several lights, the road will
narrow to one lane each way. The road will then fork again, (there will be a pink
house directly ahead) and you will need to turn to the right on to 1st Avenue. This is
a very short street. At the stop sign you will be facing directly at the ocean.
8.At the stop sign turn left onto Ocean View Blvd.
9.Coral Street is found at the intersection of Coral Street and Ocean View Blvd. in
Pacific Grove. It is approximately ¾ miles south of Lovers Point. You may park on the
ocean side of the street along the iceplant
